Home Contact System

Important information about the Home Contact System

This information is very important and all participants and their Emergency Contact(s) must read this factsheet.

Whenever members of the UK Scout Association are away from home they are covered by the home contact system. This system ensures that there is a central point of contact for Emergency Contacts to be able to get in touch with leaders or participants and vice versa.

The reason we have this system in place is to enable leaders and participants to get the most out of their travel experience and also to help situations to be managed appropriately. It ensures Scout Association and expedition procedures and guidelines are followed and completed correctly.

Any messages for participants or leaders should be passed to the Home Contact, who will then inform the expedition leaders. The leaders can then pass the message on to the participant through the pre-arranged communication channels, or take action based on the information provided.

The Home Contact system is not intended for non-urgent messages, so please consider whether the participant needs to know this information before returning home. Please use your common sense and judgement!

In addition to the main expedition, the Home Contact system will be used for the 2nd Training Weekend.
